At it’s last meeting the PCC agreed to visit three churches in Yorkshire which have been redeveloped /
re-ordered and have arranged to visit them to see the potential of the sort of thing we may be able to achieve at All Saints. A coach has been booked and the date fixed for Saturday 4th July, leaving the church hall car park at about 9.00am and returning about 6.00pm. There are a few places left on the coach and any members of the congregation who would like to come are more than welcome. If we get a sufficiently large response we can always book a further coach! The cost is likely to be in the order of £15 – £20 per head. Final arrangements will be confirmed nearer the time but to book a place (on a first come, first served basis), please contact Bill Addy via email:development@allsaintschildwall.org.uk
We can now confirm the basic arrangements for this exciting event. Staging of exhibits in Church will be during the afternoon and early evening of Thursday 2nd July, and the exhibition will be open to visitors as follows:-
Friday 3rd July 5.00 to 8.00 pm
Saturday 4th July 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
Sunday 5th July 12 noon to 4.00 pm
A rota has already (gratefully) been organised for the serving of refreshments, but we need a similar rota of volunteers to welcome visitors and act as stewards during the above opening times. Would those willing to help please put their names on the sheet at the back of Church.
Brief presentations about the exhibition will be given at certain services before the event, but do note the dates in your diaries – and bring your friends. Entry is for a nominal ‘one off’ £1, the intention being to support church-based charities. Dick Williams (722 7962) & Henry Stott (428 3410)
A Day for Bereaved Parents will take place in Talking Point Conference and Exhibition Centre, A62 Huddersfield Road, Scouthead, Saddleworth, Oldham on Saturday 4 July.
When a child dies, a parent’s life is turned upside down. They’re totally devastated and the feelings of loneliness can seem overwhelming.
A Day for Bereaved Parents will offer understanding, encouragement and support to parents who have suffered the death of a son or daughter in whatever circumstances and at whatever age. For further details you can call us on (029) 2081 0800 www.careforthefamily.org.uk/bpnday/
Christian Aid Week 2009. Our fund-raising for Christian Aid Week this year raised ₤3489, ₤3156 from house-to-house collections and ₤333 from gift-aid recovery. This represents an increase of 30% over last year. A big thank-you to all who collected, counted or gave. Malcolm Baines
