PLEASE PRAY (18 OCT ’09)

PRAISE GOD:
• For His great and awesome Power
• For His comforting and empowering Presence
• For His clear and gracious Purpose in sending Jesus Christ

PLEASE PRAY FOR:
• The families and friends of Finn George Robinson, Imogen Grace Webb, Hannah Robinson and Isobel Robinson who are being baptised today, praying that they will grow into a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour
• BOYS BRIGADE COMPANY SECTION: Youth hostelling in Grasmere this weekend. Please pray for
safety, fun and that the aim of the BB to extend Christ’s kingdomamong boys will be forwarded
• The Congregational Meeting, as we hear about and discuss a number of items of current interest with regard to our fellowship, witness and mission
• A further meeting of the clergy of this Deanery (group of Churches) on Tuesday to consider how best to shape the ministry and mission of the Church in the light of the resources and opportunities open to us in this generation, especially for a sense of unity born of the binding of the Holy Spirit
• Childwall CE School which this week celebrates God’s bounty in a number of age‐appropriate Harvest Festival Services, and praying also for the staff, children and parents as the school prepares to break for half‐term
• The planning for the All Saints’ Light Party on All Hallows E’en (31st October), and for protection for all who will be
exposed, some unwittingly, to the influence of darkness rather than the Light of God in Jesus Christ
• The work and ministry of the children’s’ and young people’s leaders in our church, giving thanks for the huge numbers of children and young people with whom we have contact week by week, and praying that all that is taught and modelled will help to shape many young lives in the service of Jesus Christ
• All those who are being prepared for confirmation on November 1st and for Bishop Ian, an Assistant Bishop in the
Diocese, who will be confirming on that occasion
• The peoples and government of Zimbabwe, that justice, prosperity and opportunity for all might soon begin to prevail, and that human rights and responsibilities would be respected
• The mission and ministry of Christians Against Poverty, giving thanks for their passionate concern for social justice and their work with some of the most marginalised and excluded in British society
• The sick and those undergoing medical procedures and all who are caring for them in hospital or at home.
• All who grieve the loss of a loved one or remember the anniversary of a death at this time.

COLLECT FOR THE NINETEENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
Faithful Lord,
whose steadfast love never ceases
and whose mercies never come to an end:
grant us the grace to trust you

new every morning,
in Jesus Christ our Lord Amen

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Please help us to send gift filled shoe boxes to needy children this Christmas. Last year we were able to send over 200 shoe boxes. Both shoe boxes and leaflets will be available at the back of church from Thursday October 15th.

Filled boxes can be left at the back of church or handed to the team from Sunday 1st November until Sunday 22nd November. Thank you in anticipation of your kind help, Win Frazer, Sue Holden, Joyce Hopwood Carol Turner and Hilary Wilde. operation-christmas-child
