PRAISE GOD:

  • That He knows our needs before we ask them
  • That He encourages us to call upon His Name
  • That He invites us to call Him ‘Abba’, ‘Father’

PLEASE PRAY FOR:

  • Our CYFA members and leaders at the Connect Weekend (26th to 28th February), that much may have been learnt and experienced of God’s love brought near in Jesus Christ
  • Pam and Chris Mitchell as they fly out to St Petersburg, that God will bless and encourage them in their work and for the completion of all they hope to achieve
  • Joan McClelland as she passes the half way point of her time in Malawi, for continued strength, energy and capacity in all that she is called upon to do whilst away, and for her family at home
  • Gary as he travels to Cambridge on Monday evening for a meeting of the Ridley Hall Theological College Council on Tuesday, for safety in travel and for wisdom in all the decisions he and the other Council members will be required to take
  • The Standing Committee of the PCC meeting on Wednesday and for the PCC Reflection Evening on Thursday, giving thanks for the leadership of the PCC in our mission and ministry
  • The Women’s World Day of Prayer on Friday, giving thanks for this global ministry of prayer, ministry and fellowship, and praying especially for the Christian women of Cameroon who have prepared the service this year
  • Our bishops, James and Richard, as they lead and guide our diocese, and for Bishop James in the many elements of his national ministry, especially his broadcasting
  • The people and government of Haiti as they continue to attend to the complex and multi-faceted issues of rebuilding following the recent earthquake, and for the many agencies involved in offering care and compassion, especially Tearfund
  • The mission and ministry of all Christian musicians, composers and performers, giving thanks for all that they contribute to enable worship that is both     enlivened and meaningful
  • The sick and those undergoing medical procedures.
  • All who grieve the loss of a loved one or remember the anniversary of a death at this time.

Collect for second Sunday of Lent

Almighty God,
by the prayer and discipline of Lent
may we enter into the mystery of Christ’s sufferings,
and by following in his Way
come to share in his glory;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
