OASIS INTERNATIONAL BOOK SHOP

The Wesley Owen shop has opened up again and is trading as ‘Oasis International’, under new     management. It is situated on Roe Street at the back of St. Johns precinct. They would appreciate customers, and we need to keep a good Christian bookshop in business. Thanks.  Tony Farmer.

FAIRTRADE FORNIGHT UPDATE

Fairtrade Fortnight Update Thank you to everyone who enthusiastically supported the stall in Fairtrade Fortnight in February. You bought £106 of fairly traded goods and  donated another £13.50. I have sent £27.00 to Traidcraft for their ‘Big Swap’ campaign which is encouraging people to switch to fairly traded tea. The winner of the ‘guess the number of      tea-bags in a jar’ competition was Dick Williams so the Belgian Fair-Trade chocolates are on their way to him! Thank you all.  Liz Anderson

The weekly prayers listed in full below are also available as a pdf download. Please click on the link. 2010 Apr 25

PRAISE GOD:

  • That Jesus Christ is the key to our worship
  • That Jesus Christ is the source of our worship
  • That Jesus Christ is the goal of our worship

PLEASE PRAY FOR:

  • The preparations for Christian Aid Week, especially that many of us will volunteer to act as collectors in our community
  • Childwall CE Primary School and for its significant role in our community, particularly for the interviews for a new Deputy Headteacher taking place on Monday and for Gary as he Chairs the Panel
  • Gary as he travels to Cambridge on Tuesday for the Incumbent’s Day with Becca Phillips and her tutors at Ridley Hall, as part of the formal and final preparations for Becca to come and serve as curate at All Saints’ from the summer
  • The meeting of the Clergy Chapter on Thursday, and for the ongoing conversations regarding possible new patterns of cooperation for mission and ministry between the churches and congregations of our Deanery (Anglican group of churches)
  • All those affected or stranded far from home as a result of the volcanic eruption in Iceland, and  especially for those who have little definition at present regarding when or by what means they will be able to return
  • The people of Poland in this period of mourning and uncertainty following the deaths of so many of their leaders and public figures
  • The political parties in this campaign period at home, praying that there will be a clear elucidation of policies so that each of us may make informed choices on May 6th
  • Protection and moderation in those parts of our     nation where racial tension is most apparent, so that racist and extremist groups are unable to propagate their messages of hatred and violence under the guise of the political process
  • The sick and those undergoing medical procedures.
  • All who grieve or who remember the anniversary of a death at this time.

Collect for Fourth Sunday of Easter

Risen Christ,
faithful shepherd of your Father’s sheep:
