PRAISE GOD:
- That He sends the Holy Spirit
- That the Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus and makes Him known
- That the Holy Spirit fills us with the life of the Kingdom to come
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- Each of us to be renewed and filled with the purpose and power of the Holy Spirit, so that we are effective, attractive and committed in our worship of Jesus and our witness to Him
- The preparations for the Church Weekend Away at Cloverley Hall, and especially for the advance visit to Cloverley being made by Gary and the planning team on Monday morning
- The meeting of Standing Committee of the PCC on Monday afternoon, giving thanks especially for the administrative and facilitative role of the Standing Committee in enabling the smooth running of the PCC
- Bookworms on Monday evening, giving thanks for the enjoyment of those who come to share their thoughts on the books read and for the open invitation which is issued by Bookworms to any and all to join in
- The Readers who will be meeting with Gary on Tuesday evening, giving thanks for their ministry of worship and teaching and praying for God’s continued anointing on their service
- The meeting of the Pastoral Area of the PCC on Wednesday evening, giving thanks for the care, support and love shown by so many in our church and for especially for the leadership and example given by Joan McClelland, our Pastoral Assistant
- Scott, Jen and Isobel as they offer their last full week of ministry in Childwall, and especially as they attend public worship for the last times on Thursday and Sunday, before they move on to pastures new
- Gary who will be in Cambridge on Wednesday night and Thursday for a meeting of the Ridley Hall Theological College Council, and especially for safety in travel
- The people and leadership of Thailand in this period of significant political unrest, that a just and peaceful solution may be found to the conflict and violence that is presently shaping this period of change and transition
- The ministry and mission of those who work to support and promote the values of Christian marriage in a society that often sits so lightly to such values, and especially the work of Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter in enabling couples before and during marriage to reflect together upon the commitment that marriage is and the particular fruit that it can bear
- The sick and those undergoing medical procedures.
- All who grieve or who remember the anniversary of a death at this time
Collect for Pentecost
Holy Spirit, sent by the Father,
ignite in us your holy fire;
strengthen your children with the gift of faith,
revive your Church with the breath of love,
and renew the face of the earth,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
