PRAISE GOD:

  • For He is to be honoured in all the earth
  • For He is to be exalted in the heavens
  • For He is to be glorified by all creation

PLEASE PRAY FOR:

  • Jim, Mary, Claire, Alice, Paul, Daniel and Joel Harrison as they  prepare to go to South Africa to serve as a family on a short-term assignment with Tearfund, praying especially for protection, safety and a positive outcome to their endeavours
  • The Deanery Synod  meeting on Monday with Bishop James and Bishop Richard, thanking God  for this opportunity to share together something of the life, worship and witness of our Deanery and to celebrate all that God is doing amongst us
  • The meeting of the City Planning Committee on   Tuesday as they formally consider the proposed development of our site and buildings, and especially for Gary and Bill Addy as they speak in support of our development submission
  • The special evening of poems and compline for Lent on Wednesday, that many would be moved and challenged in their Lenten journeys, and for Garry Critchley as he prepares and leads the evening
  • The meeting of the Rockclub leaders with Gary on Thursday as they consider together some important next steps in the life, leadership and development of Rockclub
  • The people and government of Libya, especially that peace, justice and stability would return quickly to this troubled country and region
  • The ongoing efforts in Christchurch and Japan to deal with the after effects of the recent earthquakes, asking that God would comfort the bereaved, console the injured and protect the vulnerable
  • Those who are sick, anxious or undergoing medical procedures.

· Those who have been bereaved either recently or are remembering the anniversary of  a significant occasion, that they may be comforted in their grief.

Collect for the third Sunday of Lent

Eternal God,
give us insight
to discern your will for us,
to give up what harms us,
and to seek the perfection we are promised
in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
