With so many of our leaders and congregation being on holiday during the summer period, there will be just one 10am morning service for period Sunday July 24th Sunday August 28th inclusive. There will also be an evening service at 6.30pm.
The following guidelines will shape the morning service pattern:
- As our musicians will be taking a well-earned break, Alan Thwaite will play two items on the organ and two on the clavinova each week to satisfy the musical expectations of both morning congregations appropriately.
- Sundays 24th July, 7th August, 14th August and 28th August will be communion services. 31st July and 21st August will be baptism services. (In the evening of 31st July and 21st August, we will have a communion service so that there is one eucharistic service each Sunday.)
- In the morning communion services the liturgy will be lighter and more creative up to the Peace, given that children will be present, but there will be a 15-20 minute adult oriented sermon. For the period of the teaching, therefore, any children present will be catered for by a volunteer team each week, who will do something all-age with the children in the hall or the vicarage garden (depending on the weather). As children will be present for the morning HC’s, we will use the liturgy they are familiar with (ie the illustrated Eucharistic Prayer in our worship folders). Gary and Becca would be grateful to hear from suitable volunteers to lead the children for a ‘sermon slot’ in the summer.
- We will return to the usual pattern of two morning services from Sunday 4th September. Rockclub will begin again on Sunday 11th September.
- Service themes will be advertised from mid-July onwards in the special summer Noticesheet
I’d like to say a huge thank you on behalf of Fairtrade producers for the generous people who buy items from the Fairtrade stall each Parade Sunday at 10 o’clock coffee time.
Since the stall started in October 2009 an amazing £801.80 has been spent or donated. Most of this pays for stock but 10% is ‘profit’ for other charities. In the past this has been donated to the Mission Committee and Traidcraft. Today I triumphantly twinned a Tearfund toilet with the latest sum of money!
Thank you for your support and encouragement. Please come and explore the Fairtrade offerings at the next Fairtrade stall which will be on Sunday 3rd July as I cannot be at Parade on 10th. Liz Anderson
This year’s Confirmation Service will be on Sunday 6th November. Gary and Becca will be preparing candidates for confirmation from mid-September. If you or someone you know wishes to be confirmed this year, or wants to find out what confirmation is, then please speak with Gary or Becca over the next few weeks or email: info@allsaintschildwall.org.uk
