MENS BREAKFAST

8:00 am

The next breakfast will be held in the Church Hall on Saturday 11th February from 8.00am till around 9.15am. Our speaker will be Keith Caulkin who is to talk to us on the first of the Beatitudes (Matthew Ch 5 vs 3 – ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit ….’). All men welcome – young, old and in between. Enjoy a lively breakfast followed by our talk, some prayers and finish off by joining in a           resounding hymn. It takes some beating as a way to start the weekend. ESCAPE FROM HUNGARY

24/02/2012

7:15 pm to 9:30 pm

During 2012 we will be holding a variety of events to help raise some money towards the cost of the redevelopment of the church hall into the new All Saints Centre. On Friday 24th February we will be having an event in the church hall entitled ‘Escape from Hungary – a personal story’ which records the events of the Hungarian Uprising in 1956. Our speaker will be Dr Andrew Zsigmond, who was involved in the  uprising when a medical student in Hungary and subsequently escaped following its suppression.

He finished up in Liverpool where he completed his medical training and has worked and lived in the city ever since.

His talk will commence at 7.15pm and will be  followed by a Hungarian Goulash supper. After supper he will give a further short presentation on his involvement in the building of a new church in Transylvania, which was originally a part of Hungary, about 15 years ago and which is where he was born.

The evening will be of great interest to both those who can remember the uprising from newsreels at the time and also to students as the uprising now forms part of European history.

Tickets are limited and are priced at £8 each for adults (including supper and a drink) and £5 for  students aged 18+. No-one under the age of 18 please.

Tickets available from Naida Thompson, Graham Deacon or Peter Jennins or email info@allsaintschildwall.org.uk
