Ash Wednesday 2022

By 2nd March 2022Latest News

Dear All,
This is a reminder that we will be gathering together in church tonight at 7pm for our Ash Wednesday Communion Service. There will be a specific time of prayer for Ukraine and the crisis there as we start the service at 7pm.
If you are unable to join us this evening in church please can I encourage you to pause today at some point and pray for Ukraine.  Below is a suggested prayer from the Church of England which is encouraging us all today to a national day of prayer.

God of peace and justice,
We pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.

We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.

We pray for those with power over war or peace,

for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at-risk and in fear,

that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.  Amen.

People have also been asking what we can all do to help the people of Ukraine. There are a number of organisations that are already either in Ukraine or neighbouring countries and are able to help very specifically with local needs. Please can I encourage you to support financially any of the large charities that are in position already to make a real difference. One of those organisations is the Salvation Army, please see their information below.
with my love and prayers
Andrew
