Children’s work on Sunday mornings
Pre-Pandemic we only had children’s work at our 11am Sunday morning service.
Currently we are running our Children’s work on Sunday mornings at both our morning
services of 9.15am and 11am. We started this during the Pandemic as we could not have
large groups of children together and the obvious solution was to have provision at both
services. As a result of this provision we have seen our earlier service at 9.15am double in
size and all ages are now present. Many families have said to me that they are up early
and by coming at 9.15am they still have the whole day left after church.
This weekly provision though takes a large group of volunteers and overall leaders for
each session. This is becoming increasingly unsustainable and I am proposing that in the
future we return to only having children’s provision at one morning service. No formal
decision has been made yet and we will be discussing this at our next PCC meeting.
I do feel though that if we make this decision then it would be the earlier service of
9.15am when we provide our children’s work. This would also allow us to open up the
church hall every week for tea & coffee and have the opportunity for some fellowship
together which I know has been missed enormously by so many of you. We would also
ensure that the 11am service is suitable for children and young people and we would
review the content of that service. We are also discussing the possibility of opening up
the Pebbles age to allow children to attend once they are 4 years old.
This proposal will obviously have an impact and will affect different people in different
ways. I would value speaking with you to hear your views and feedback before any
decision is made. Please will you speak to me or contact me for a conversation.
Please pray that God will guide us clearly in this important area of our Children’s work.
Andrew – Vicar of All Saints

BOOKWORMS
Our last meeting at the beginning of the month was well attended and most people
had enjoyed their reread (or first time read) of A Christmas Carol.
Our next meeting is on Monday April 3rd at 7.30pm in the Childwall Abbey.
The book we are reading is The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Set in Jackson, USA in the
60s when many middle class white American households employed African American women to ‘help’. I read and enjoyed this book a few years ago and I have also seen the film on tv. If you would like to, do come and join us. Val Yates
Pew Bags – Thank You
Thanks to all who have helped to prepare the pew Bags by sewing, knitting or printing. They have been very well received. If you would be willing to replenish the bags after either of the morning services please speak to me or ring me on 07542565534. This only involves replacing colouring sheets in the bags that have been used. Thanks Barbara
War Memorial – The more observant of you will have noticed that the War Memorial has been removed from the church porch. It is away being restored as it was felt by the PCC that the condition it was in was not honouring to those whose names it bears.
Its position in the porch has led to its deterioration as the porch is open to the elements. It is hoped to re-site it inside the church once it is restored subject to a faculty being granted. Since its removal we have discovered more about the actual memorial and its historical significance from an inscription on the back. The cost of restoration will be in the region of £500. If you feel that this is something you would like to contribute towards please speak to Andrew or myself or put a donation on the collection plate in an envelope clearly marked “War Memorial” thank you Barbara Critchley

Eggs which are collected are distributed to children in temporary accommodation and domestic abuse refuges. We know that many people are experiencing difficulties due to the cost of living situation but if you can help we would be very grateful. Eggs can be left at the back of Church. Thank you, Garry and Barbara Critchley
